FAQ's

What is Glamping?

Glamping is a unique experience in which guests get to experience the beauty of nature and the outdoors in a more luxurious way than if they were camping the traditional way. Guests will sleep in a dome and have all the amenities of home and more!

What is a Geodesic Dome?

A dome shaped, yurt-like structure, with a panoramic view of the outside world. Domes are architecturally designed using patterns found in nature. They are not only aesthetically beautiful and intriguing, but leave little footprint on the earth, are four seasons and can withstand high winds and heavy snow loads.

What does Back Forty mean?

The “Back Forty” is a phrase used to describe an undeveloped piece of land, wild and untouched, usually at the back of a property. We hope your time with us allows for you to experience nature in an up close and personal way, without forfeiting the luxuries of home!

What are your nightly rates?

Weekdays are $375/night +hst, weekends are $450/night +hst. There is an additional $70 cleaning fee.

How do bookings work?

Bookings are released in seasonal blocks requiring a two night minimum stay with no check-in and check-outs on Saturday’s. One-night stays are released monthly so keep your eye out or subscribe to our mailing list to be notified about new date releases and one-nights stays!

Is there a wait list?

Yes! There is a cancellation list you can subscribe to or follow us closely on Instagram @backfortyglamping where we will update you on all the new cancellation dates!

  • Swim suits

Be sure to bring extra layers of clothing! We do our best to manage the temperature of the domes relative to the seasons but conditions can easily fluctuate. Extra layers will prepare you for anything!

Is the water drinkable?

Yes it is! Our water is purified and there is a separate silver tap at the sink for drinking water.

Do all domes have a private hot tub?

Yep! Each dome has a private hot tub for your personal enjoyment! Although all hot tubs are quite private, the Forest Dome hot tubs are slightly more secluded.

What are the differences between the domes?

Balsam, Cedarwood and Bergamot all have the exact same layout and amenities. The only difference is a few minor furniture/decor pieces. These 3 domes have a forest view.

Capella has the same amenities as the other domes, except for a fireplace – and instead has in floor heating. There is also no skylight in this dome.  Capella has a meadow view.

How far apart are the dome sites?

The domes are about 70ft apart from each other. We have designed the grounds layout so that once guest’s are inside their dome, they can’t see any other domes. The dome’s patio has a privacy fence to add extra seclusion.

Are kids/pets allowed?

Unfortunately not. As much as we love ’em, our glamping experience is for 2 adults age 18+ per dome. You will however, meet our pup “Forty” who will give you all the love!

Do you have cell service and wifi?

Yes to both! Our vision for our guest’s glamping experience is for you to unplug, relax and enjoy your getaway to the absolute fullest. However, we do know that things come up, so we wanted our guests to have access to wifi as needed.

Can we get delivery to the domes?

We are located only 10-15 minutes from local restaurants but due to the rural setting of Back Forty Glamping delivery is not common. Plan ahead and bring your food or check out our add-ons when making your reservation!

Who are your hosts?

That’s us, the McIntosh’s! We are Scott & Elizabeth, and Ben & Alyssa. We built this experience from the ground up and cannot WAIT to host you.
